Support McKnight

The McKnight CDC is leading a McKnight FUND DRIVE

The Goal of the effort is to launch the recovery of the neighborhood from the damage caused by past fair housing violations like redlining and discriminatory siting of assisted housing, as well as abuse of the police powers to demolish historic homes, and to build positive energy to meet the challenges of becoming a Sustainable Community for the future.

To accomplish these goals donated funds are slated to be used as seed money to fund four efforts:

  1. 1.Consolidation of Organizational Assets, including corporate records, etc.;

  1. 2.Delegation of Fair Housing law enforcement issues with Seed Money to Open Housing of Western MA, so the the McKnight organizations can focus on more positive work;

  1. 3.Seed Money to Restart the McKnight Youth Program (see Youth Program Page)

  1. 4.Seed Money to start a Housing Assistance Loan Fund, modeled on the revolving loans in Providence, R.I., so that we can start restoring houses that need work instead of demolishing them.

  1. 5.Seed Money for a Master Planning Process to work toward building a Sustainable Historic Community.

With these resources the CDC will be able to work with institutions and individuals in the private sector and agencies and officials at all levels of government in the public sector to develop and implement the programs our the McKnight needs.
